As a little kid though, that one word being repeated over and over just didn&#039;t make any sense to me. I mean, they literally walked by and said, &quot;Condolences,&quot; and then walked away. Not even one other word.]]></description>

I think we make these losses more difficult if we think they shouldn&#039;t affect us or if we don&#039;t allow ourselves to grieve. When we let ourselves feel each phase of the process, we heal and/or we can be better friends for those that need us.]]></description>

I worked much of my nursing career with people who had dementia and it used to seem to me that perhaps they understood more than they communicate. ..as though prisoners in their minds. We can&#039;t know what really goes on--perhaps there was a reconciliation.  You were there for her.]]></description>
